Frequently asked Questions
Where do you run your training?We currently offer our scheduled public training programme courses in Bridgend, Caernarfon, Cardiff, Carmarthen, Llandudno, Newport, Merthyr Tydfil, Port Talbot, Swansea and Wrexham. Please refer to individual course descriptions (Find a Course) for specific details. If you would like to take advantage of our popular, cost-effective, in-house training service, this can be delivered at a time and location of your choice. How will I know if a course is appropriate for my needs?All our courses are graded as introductory, update, or advanced level. You can search for courses by level on the find a course page. If you are still unsure if a course is right for you, please ring on 01792 483020 or use our contact form. Do delegates gain a qualification for attending your courses?All delegates receive a certificate of attendance. The majority of our courses last for one or two days, and are aimed at professionals already working in the housing field, so they do not provide any qualifications. However, the vast majority of our courses are accredited for CPD by a number of professional bodies. How do I book a course?If you want to book a place on a course from our scheduled courses you can download a booking form and return to us by fax or post, or search for a course and book online. If you want to book an in-house course to be delivered to a group of staff, please use our contact form or phone us on 01792 483021. How do I pay?There is no need to pay prior to the course, we will invoice you after the event. If you do wish to send payment with your booking however please make cheques payable to Shelter Cymru. Do I qualify for the concessionary rate?The concessionary rate applies to small voluntary sector projects or organisations and registered charities with fewer than 10 employed staff. Can I attend a course as an individual rather than as an employee?Yes, as long as you are confident that the course will be appropriate for your needs. Please call 01792 483020 to discuss course suitability and payment options. What happens if I want to cancel my booking?You must let us know as soon as possible to avoid any cancellation charges. When do courses start and end?All of our one, two and three day scheduled courses start at 10am and finish at approximately 4.30pm with an hour break for lunch. Delegates are asked to arrive at 9.45 for refreshments and registration. Occasionally courses may have different start and end times, for example half day courses, timetables for each course are sent to all delegates prior to the event. Start and end times for in-house training can be arranged around your working hours. Is lunch included?Lunch is provided on all our one, two and three day courses. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided at morning and afternoon breaks. The cost of this is included in the course fees. Does the venue have good access facilities?We ensure all of the venues we use for our scheduled courses have access for disabled people. Will there be parking and public transport available?Travel directions and any necessary parking instructions will be supplied to all delegates prior to the course.
